Larry Jackman
Larry Jackman, now 54, was raised and continues to live in the Mt. Helix area. Growing up in his family's hospitality and property development businesses, Larry Jackman became a recognized authority in the hospitality and property management industry. Attending the University of San Diego and obtaining a Certificate of Professional Hospitality Management from the University of California San Diego, Larry Jackman also achieved the highest accreditation and distinction in the lodging industry from the American Institute of Hospitality. In addition to his prominent years in the lodging industry, property management and property development, Larry Jackman has an extensive collateral background in general business, technology, and governmental affairs. During the late seventies and eighties, he founded a property development and construction company specializing in difficult properties encumbered by various environmental and physical constraints. By the nineteen-nineties, Larry Jackman expanded his business into innovative technology and was at the forefront of providing computer network integration for small business to large institutions. With the advent of the new millennium, consolidation of these entrepreneurial accomplishments brought about the incorporation of Jackman Enterprises.
In addition to Larry Jackman's business acumen, he has cultivated a
wealth of experience in governmental affairs spanning over three decades
with his participation in numerous community and civic organizations
throughout San Diego and Southern California. In 1992 he entered the
political arena to be elected to the San Miguel Fire District Board of
Directors. Throughout his sixteen years of service to the district,
Larry Jackman has demonstrated his ability to overcome the adversity of
budgetary constraints to exceed expectations. For ten years he served as
the chairman of Heartland Communications Facility Authority, the
commission responsible for fire and emergency medical dispatch for the
entire East County of San Diego, La Mesa, El Cajon, Santee, Lemon Grove,
National City, Coronado and South Bay communities, and continues to
serve on the commission. Larry Jackman is also one of the founding board
members of the San Diego/Imperial County Regional Communications System.
When the naysayers said it could not be done, Larry Jackman's
perseverance and political insight is credited as being an instrumental
factor in the successful seven year creation of the RCS. As a member of
the RCS Enterprise committee, he facilitated the development of a
business plan used by the Federal Government as a model across the
nation. In 2001, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors recognized
Larry Jackman as an accomplished community leader with Supervisor Dianne
Jacob appointing him to the San Diego Futures Foundation Board of
Directors where he continues to serve. Throughout the past three
decades, Larry Jackman has served on a number of Advisory Councils and
was just recently elected to the San Diego County LAFCO (Local Agency
Formation Commission) Advisory Council. Larry Jackman also sits on the
San Diego County Fire Taskforce advisory committee and is the current
President of the California Special Districts Association San Diego
Chapter.
